ON DEMAND - Contaminated Land and Wildfire Disaster Recovery – Are we Future Ready?
Natural disasters on a national or local scale are likely to be more common in light of global climate change. How can we as an industry be future ready to provide responses around contaminated land issues associated with these events?
Using the events and clear up which occurred following the wildfire at Lake Ohau Village as a case study, the presentation looks to use lessons learned from the event to identify proactive steps that could be taken to improve the preparedness of stakeholders relating to contamination risks associated with future climate related events. These will be compared to recent events overseas in Australia and the United States, with the aim of opening up discussions about how best to approach and prepare for future ongoing risks associated with climate impacts.
